first_imgA total of 56 local authority homes which have been left vacant across Donegal are to be brought back to life.Cllr Jimmy KavanaghA total of €358,000 has been granted to give the houses a facelift and to allow them to be allocated to families across the county. The allocation is part of a €15million investment announced by Minister for Housing Jan O’Sullivan. A total of 952 homes across the country are to be renovated as a result of the programme.Local Letterkenny councillor Jimmy Kavanagh said the scheme will provide a boost to many housing estates and also put a roof over the heads of 56 Donegal families.“This scheme will go some way to easing the pressure on social housing in the country.“In addition unused units can very quickly become magnets for anti social behaviour and boarded up houses, are unsightly and can bring down the look of an entire housing development. “This investment will therefore not only provide additional social housing, but will also enhance the appearance of neighbourhoods and enhance the quality of life of the residents of housing estates,” he said. JOY AS 56 VACANT HOMES TO BE BROUGHT BACK TO LIFE IN HOUSING REGENERATION SCHEME was last modified: April 18th, 2014 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:Cllr Jimmy Kavanaghvacant homeslast_img read more
