City defers change in Wastewater Transfer Station hours to November

first_imgWith stricter federal wastewater system effluent regulations coming into play in January 2015, the City recently decided to close the station as of December 31, 2014, and reduce its hours to 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday starting October 1, 2013 until the closure. In the past few years it’s had issues with disallowed types of waste being brought in that hurt the system, and whatever is brought in becomes the City’s responsibility. Council and City staff met with sewage haulers, rural residents, and representatives of the Peace River Regional District on Tuesday, October 24, where suggestions were made to try and avoid a back up in sewer service. Among them were having the station open 12 hours a day 6 days a week, implementing a stricter screening process for access, and charging more per cubic metre to cover the cost of monitoring the station.  A staff report will come to council at its October 15 meeting.- Advertisement –last_img read more

first_imgFinn Harps have been handed a blow with the news that Brian McGroary and Darragh Black are heading to the USA. Black played a handful of games towards the end of the 2014 season and impressed. However, he hasn’t kicked a ball in anger this term and is heading to America to play GAA for the remainder of the summer. Black is only 18 and is a talented player who will be a key player for Joe Boyle’s U19 side upon his return from the USA.Former Wolves and Derry City midfielder Brian McGroary has been plagued with injuries since joining the club. However, in the games he featured in McGroary was very impressive and was popular with the club’s supporters.McGroary was last seen in action against Shelbourne in April but hobbled off after just thirty minutes. The news he will be leaving the club will come as a huge blow to Ollie Horgan who is already resigned to losing Sligo Rovers duo Ruairi Keating and Regan Donelon. With Adam Clarke already departing the club and Gerard O’Callaghan expected to depart the Harps squad is looking threadbare and Horgan will be busy trying to acquire players to strengthen the squad for the second-half of the season.Harps players are currently enjoying their week off before meeting collectively again for a pre-season friendly against Carrowmeena FC on Sunday.FINN HARPS HIT WITH BLOW AS BLACK AND MCGROARY HEAD STATESIDE was last modified: June 17th, 2015 by Mark ForkerShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:brian mcgroaryDarragh BlackFinn Harps FCnewssoccerSportUSAlast_img read more
