Will Georginio Wijnaldum stay at Newcastle? Dutchman speaks out on transfer talk

first_img1 Newcastle midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has revealed he will make a decision on his future when he returns from his summer holiday. The Holland international made a bright start to his career at St James’ Park, scoring six goals in his first 12 games, but his form faded as the season went on and he couldn’t help the club avoid relegation to the Championship.Despite Rafael Benitez and a number of key players committing their futures to Newcastle, Wijandlum is understood to be keen on staying in the Premier League next season – amid reported interest from Everton and Southampton.Clubs in Italy are also keeping a close eye on Wijnaldum’s situation – and the 25-year-old says he needs time to weigh up his options.“Every day I am being asked about my future, not just by journalists, but also by my friends and family”, he told Dutch Fox Sports.“My first focus is the national team and then after the holidays I’ll see what happens.“I’m working on it, but it’s not easy.” Georginio Wijnaldum in action for Newcastle last_img read more
